The projectcalled Cartivatorwas backed by Toyota in May. The automaker gave the group, which relied largely on crowdfunding and other donations, $350,000 to help the project get on its way. The purpose? To build the smallest flying car ever made.
Cartivator hopes to perform a manned flight of the car by 2018. The ultimate goal, however, is to fly the car to the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, and light the historic olympic torch.
There’s still plenty of time to reach that lofty Olympic goal and these sorts of bumps are to be expected in the development. But, right now, though, it seems that the project is spending more time on the ground than in the air.
